Strange problem with Pro 2001.. Component Colors in Assemblies

Strange problem with Pro 2001.. Component Colors in Assemblies

(OP)
Hello,

I've got a problem that has me (and several others) stumped!  Hope someone has some advise out there.

Let's say that I create two parts from scratch.  Under Model_Settings - Color_and_Apperance I set the two parts to different colors.

Now at a later date I create an assembly including the two parts.  The color of the two parts in the assembly are automatically the colors that I assigned to the parts when I created them.

Now here is the kicker.

I can open the assembly, the colors appear correct.  If I open one of the parts in the assembly while that assembly is open, that part appears grey.  Also, the "Color_and_appearance" selection in the pull down menu is greyed out & not selectable when the part window is active.

Let's say that I close all the open files.  Then I pull up one of the parts.  The color appears fine.  But if I then open the assembly while that part is still open, all of the parts in that assembly are grey.  Also the color_and_apperance option is not selectable when the assembly window is active.

Is there some config.pro setting that I'm missing dealing with color inheritance from part to assembly level?  HELP!

Brian

RE: Strange problem with Pro 2001.. Component Colors in Assemblies

Hello,

The only way I can recreate this problem is to select the part or the assembly from the list of applications open, i.e. the stuff on the start bar. Try selecting the part or assembly from WINDOW in Pro-E, if you haven't already.

Selecting from the START BAR recreates the 'COLOR AND APPEARANCE' box to be greyed out along with others.

The display colours of the parts and assembly do stay the designated colour, but if you select VIEW, MODEL SETUP and COLOR AND APPEARANCE the default is always the grey.

Hope this has been some help, but maybe not.

Hope this helps.
