Looking for good reference manual on residential fdn engineerin

Looking for good reference manual on residential fdn engineerin

Looking for good reference manual on residential fdn engineerin

(OP)
I am a licensed professional engineer in New Jersey, in business for myself.  Many of my projects have been calling for knowledge of residential foundations.  Specifically: 1) Design considerations with high groundwater, e.g. remove groundwater or not and implications of design (bearing capacity, hyrdostatic pressure, etc.); 2) design of underdrain systems (what are you supposed to do if you can't daylight french drains installed outside the footing?! how much of an underdrain system is required to adequately remove the groundwater?); 3) analysis of existing foundations and solution recommendations if it is failing; 4) basic residential foundation design; 5) waterproofing; 6) etc...
Although I have touched on this subject during the course of my career, it is by far not my strong point.
I AM LOOKING FOR A MANUAL that I can study which will familiarize me with the basic engineering principals as well as provide detailed technical information for design.
Thank you in advance for your advice!

A very good reference and self study book for soils and foundations can be obtained here:

This is the 2004 edition, I have the earlier edition which has served me well.

In these parts, foundation drains terminate at a sump in the basement. A sump pump is tripped when the water level rises and the water is pumped back outside. Many builders use two drainlines, in and outside the lower footing and tapped together at 6 foot intervals.

You might also try looking at "The Wet Basement Manual" written by A.E. Maurice and published by The Aberdeen Group. It does not cover the engineering aspects, but it does provide some good solutions and details for high groundwater table problems and French drainage systems.
