Amine Package on HYSYS

Amine Package on HYSYS

Amine Package on HYSYS

(OP)
i am working on the removal of carbon dioxide using the amine package on HYSYS v2.4.1 build 3870.  I have managed to simulate it but the recovered carbon dioxide stream in the tops of the distillation tower (for stripping) has a temperature of -87.07degrees C.  I was wondering if i might have made a simple error or if this is what i am supposed to get.

also i would like to incorporate this part of the simulation into the complete flow plan of my design which is in wilson package.  Is this possible? any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you very much in advance

Best Regards
Winson

what design specifications did you give for your simulation (Reflux ratio, boilup ratio, purity etc). it depends on what kind of design specifications you give. if you list them then i can get better idea of your problem.

RE: Amine Package on HYSYS

It looks like you're condensing the CO2 rich stream. Your column should be an absorber, without reboiler/condenser, but with liquid feed on top stage, and gas feed on bottom stage.

In HYSYS versions below 3.0, you can only change property package per subflowsheet, so you have to put the absorber (+ regenerator, if you insist on modeling that) inside a seperate subflowsheet.

Joerd

RE: Amine Package on HYSYS

I agree with joerd.

For an obsorber, simulate without a reboiler/condenser (typical).  For a new tower, assume 20 actual trays.  CO2 specification is acheived based on tower efficiency (# of trays), circulation rate (lean amine to absorber), lean amine wight % in the circulated stream, lean amine loading (CO2 and H2S load in lean amine) and sour gas feed.

Amine Absorber and Regenrator interact interdependently.  CO2 to H2S (if any) ratio has an impact on lean amine loading.  Other factors that impact lean amine loading is the regenerator reboiler/condensor and efficiecy of the regenerators (# of trays).

I would like to thank everyone here for their contribution.  I have been busy with this project and did finally got it to work.  What I did was just play around with the temperatures and pressures before the stripper.  Also I made a critical error (dumb one too) by stripping with a high pressure.  Well at least now its fixed and I get the output I need.

Thank you anyways.

Winson
