Pressure stresses in PD 5500 nozzle load evaluations

Pressure stresses in PD 5500 nozzle load evaluations

(OP)
Folks,

I'm trying to reconcile the pressure stress results at openings in a pressure vessel nozzle load evaluation based on PD 5500, Annex G to stress limits of ASME Sect VIII, Div 2.  Are the PD results to be taken as membrane or membrane plus bending?

Considering the the PD results as membrane and limited to 1.5Sm as primary local membreme stress leads to thickening that wouldn't otherwise be required by area replacement rules.
