Hello,you all:

I have come across a methane gas unit heater at a local town sewage plant that needs to be replaced. What I am tring to find out are the properties of methane gas. Like what would be the normal operating gas pressure (inlet & manifold). What is the BTU content of methane. And what should the normal CO level be in the flue.

RE: Hello, you all: I have come acros

Dear imok2,
For pure metane:
The higher heating value is 55.5 MJ/kg (52607 Btu/kg)
    Lower heating value is 50.0 MJ/kg (47393 Btu/kg)

Density at 0 deg C and 1 atm is 0.72
Normally methane is very clean fuel gas and CO levels at the flue is very very less.

Regards,
KMP
