TRASMISSION TOWER DESIGN USING SAP90

(OP)
I have to design a 120 ft. transmission tower for electrcity purpose, i have no knowledge about their design or anaylses can any one refer any book or website through which i can get the very basic information about their design.
I want to do this anaylses on Sap90 and then  sap2000 is it ok to use these

RE: TRASMISSION TOWER DESIGN USING SAP90

Use Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) standards for analysis and design.  The correct standard for towers is TIA/EIA-222-F.  This is used in conjunction with local codes to complete the design.

The Electronic Industries Alliance also has standards and specifications for reference.

Try www.tiaonline.org

RE: TRASMISSION TOWER DESIGN USING SAP90

Use american code  ASCE-52 which is guide for transmisson tower design.

As you can use any software for finding forces in member but for design of members you have to follow formula as in ASCE-52

RE: TRASMISSION TOWER DESIGN USING SAP90

If you are still looking, try "Guide for Design of Steel Transmission towers" (American Society of Civil Engineers document ASCE 52). This provides good basic information on tower design. However, this is a pretty specialised area, and I'm not sure it's a good idea to go designing one without some experience to back you up. Can you contract out the design work? If you only want one tower, talk to tower manufacturers about an existing design they may have that would fit the bill, providing it complies with relevant standards.
