DuPont Zytel. Strengths and Uses
DuPont Zytel. Strengths and Uses
(OP)
Group,
I have a potential customer that would like to have an extrusion die made from Dupont's Zytel Polymide. I am wondering what are it's advantages/disadvantages. All I know to this point is its a glass reinforced Nylon, but on Matweb there are 140 varieties. Any Help you can offer will be greatly appreciated.

No offense taken. I am just trying to find out as much as I can to discuss with the customer. Maybe the conversation will light the bulb. At this point I don't understand the concept behind having a polymer extrusion die. My knowledge of extrusion says the the pressures building up behind the die are quite high and would cause problems with a Nylon die. There must be a reason they want it, or they wouldn't have asked for it. Just trying to find the reasoning behind it.
We'll see what the customer says.
Thanks for the help so far.
