New to Precasting

New to Precasting

New to Precasting

(OP)
Hi all,

I will be starting as a project manager for a well established pre-cast company in the next month or so and am looking for any literature, books or advice on standard procedures or practice notes etc. that may be available on this particular subject. The company usually manufacturers, tunnel linings, bridge deck segments, prestressed beams, high rise facading and architectural features.

I have several years experience in project management of building works and civil projects but no formal training on the subject and no experience manufacturing precast concrete but have worked with pre-cast products on bridge construction. Any advise on where to look to better prepare myself for my new role would be most appreciated.

Cheers Big Bars.

RE: New to Precasting

PCI (Prestressed Concrete Institute) http://www.pci.org/ has a great handbook.  It's called "PCI Design Handbook - Precast and Prestressed Concrete, Fifth Edition."

RE: New to Precasting

First day on the job, find the oldest guy in the office and make friends with him (or her).

From another old guy.
