Paste from autocad to Winword without the black background?

Paste from autocad to Winword without the black background?

Paste from autocad to Winword without the black background?

(OP)
If I draw a strange shape in Autocad, copy the entities(lines or curves only) to clipboard and later on paste the stuff into say Winword, I get the entity with the background coming too.

My background in Autocad is set to black. So an option would be to change it temporarily to white and then do my pastework

Any better way?

RE: Paste from autocad to Winword without the black background?

here direct from the horses mouth in acad 2000i

"Issue

WMF images created in AutoCAD appear to have missing objects when inserted into Microsoft Word.

Solution

This problem occurs if you create a WMF file in AutoCAD when the background color is black, and insert it into a Microsoft Word document when the background color is white. When the background color in AutoCAD is set to black, AutoCAD automatically changes the objects created with color 7 properties to white for easier viewing. This is true even when the system variable WMFBKGND is set to off (do not save the AutoCAD background color when creating a WMF file). Therefore, when you insert the WMF file into a Microsoft Word document with a white background, those objects that had their color changed to white, do not display.

For best results, set the background in AutoCAD to white before creating WMF files. This way, the color of objects with color 7 properties is black, and the objects display correctly in Microsoft Word."

So your answer is use WMFBKGND and set it to white

if everyone helps everybody the world will be a better place

An alternate solution to changing your background to white is to copy your geometry to a photo editing program.  It will copy with the black background.  Once in the program, make a negative of the image.  Then paste this negative image into Word.  Using the photo editing program also allows you to crop the image.

This works well if you have a monochrome drawing, but the more colors involved, the less satisfactory the end result may be.

I can't remember if I got this link from someone on this site or from a newsgroup but try http://www.furix.com/
they have a program you can download called "Better WMF" for 30 days for free.
