What does "BSP" mean when discussing connections?

What does "BSP" mean when discussing connections?

What does "BSP" mean when discussing connections?

(OP)
I'd appreciate if someone could answer this one.  When discussing connection types, e.g. half-inch BSP female etc.  what do the letters BSP mean?  What does this connection look like?

Thanks in advance.

RE: What does "BSP" mean when discussing connections?

I think it is British Standard Pipe.
Try looking in Machinery's Handbook or an on-line search.

We find in the hydraulics industry, that when someone refers to BSP thread, they usually mean BSPP (British Standard Parallel)  This is a parallel thread that seals with a flat washer.

The British standard also includes a tapered thread.

The Machinery's Handbook describes this.
