CONVERT KA to AMPS HELP

CONVERT KA to AMPS HELP

CONVERT KA to AMPS HELP

(OP)
I have a Breaker that is rated at 10KA...First I need to know what a KA is and second I am looking to convert this to amps...

Any help would be appreciated....

Thanks

RE: CONVERT KA to AMPS HELP

1KA = 1,000 Amps

RE: CONVERT KA to AMPS HELP

Double check your breaker -- physically, how big is it?

And what do you mean by rated?  Is it rated to trip at 10,000 A (10 kA)?  or is this the fault current it will operate without coming apart (the trip setting being actually much smaller).... read the label vary carefully...

RE: CONVERT KA to AMPS HELP

pablo

easy way to answer your question

if the breaker is the size of a cigarette pack then it's 10k fault current

if it's the size of a small car then it's 10k trip current

Panelman:  thanks, that's why I asked the question... I had assumed it was the smaller, but didn't understand exactly kbravo's intent -- thought I'd ask...

Hey Guys Thanks for the Help...The Braker is Defiently not as big as a car...So it must be Fault Current..

How can I determine the Trip Current Amperage.

The Breaker is a Moeller  FAZ-3-C32 10KA

RE: CONVERT KA to AMPS HELP

Imok2, it should be 5..10 times the current rating (C-characteristic, not D-characteristic. See also page 10 for the trip curve (upper left picture).
Good link imok2.

RE: CONVERT KA to AMPS HELP

kbravo...am i missing something?, the trip current is printed on the front C32 means 32 amps type C.

Is this what you want?
