Finding information on USACE Monuments

Finding information on USACE Monuments

Finding information on USACE Monuments

(OP)
Just started with this forum......I am looking for a US Corps of Engineers site that will allow me to research monuments set by the USACE (in AK).  I have been to their website and can't seem to find the right link  Thanks  Jeff

RE: Finding information on USACE Monuments

You might want to look at the NGS web site since they would be the controling agency for most government survey data. I am not sure about corp monuments that may be something that each office controls.

link to NGS is www.NOAA.Gov

RE: Finding information on USACE Monuments

Wouldn't the U.S. Geolocial Survey (USGS) be the ones that keep track of survey monuments?  I would suggest contacting them.

RE: Finding information on USACE Monuments

I have asked some of my fellow surveyors and the vertical or benchmark data is retained by each district office, meaning there is no onestop collection of corps benchmarks. You should be able to obtain the number from the blue government pages in your phone book .

Hope this Helps
