Cutting Kevlar

Cutting Kevlar

(OP)
Does anyone know of a good tool to cut kevlar with?  It takes about twenty strokes with an exacto knife.  We have used an EZcutter (i think thats the name), but it wears out the blades too quick and still doesn't cut well.  Currently we use a ceramic blade.  The only problem is its brittle and keeps chipping.  Any suggestions?

RE: Cutting Kevlar

There are several cutting tools on the internet under "cutting Kevlar".

RE: Cutting Kevlar

yes
try running the blade of a band saw backwards, so the teath are up side down. this compresses the arimid fibres so they cant shear longditudinaly.
its commonly done in our composites lab.

hope its not to late.
