Generator Vibration
Generator Vibration
(OP)
I am going to acquire the vibratiob data of a turbine driven generator in few days time. The generator's vibration has been picking up since last month. I suspect it could be caused by soft foot/loosening support. Can anybody recommend what characteristic(s) that I should look for/what are the things that I should do during the data acquisition? I am going to use Bently Nevada proximity probes. Thanks.

Well that was pretty techie...

RE: Generator Vibration
In this case it is necessary to measure vibration in a vertical direction on basic paws of the generator and on the base. We shall tell 15 - 20 centimeters from a paw. The mode of operation of the generator should be nominal. In any case it is necessary to fix active and reactive power, and also a stator voltage.
For the Russian generator with nominal active capacity 200 MW the amplitude of vibration displasment should differ no more than on 10 microns (on how many I remember).
