Loading for rotating lattice structure

I need to analyze a lattice structure that is sweeping back and forth across a 120 degree angle. I use ANSYS and am familiar with static loadings but have never done anything like this. Can someone give me sume suggestions on how to load the structure?

Thanks

RE: Loading for rotating lattice structure

A quick simplified answer - you need to work out the inertial loads (that is mass x acceleration) and apply these as lateral loads to the structure in combination with the gravity loads. For the gravity loads you must also take into account the horizontal and vertical components when the structure is tilted over to the maximum extent.
It's actually not too hard to do. Start off by analysing a simple cantilever with a mass at the end by hand and go from there.
Good luck

Thanks for the reply. Wouldn't the lateral load be dependant on the distance from the center of rotation?

It is a horizontal sweep.

RE: Loading for rotating lattice structure

Yes, that's right. Each node will have its own acceleration depending on its distance from the centre of rotation. Since it's a horizontal sweep the gravitational load I referred to is much simpler  to deal with - you just have to combine the lateral inertial loads with the vertical gravity loading.

Okay you have been a big help. I'll proceed in that manner and I really appreciate your time and efforts.
