Family tables/part and drawing update

Family tables/part and drawing update

Family tables/part and drawing update

(OP)
Hello,

We created a drawing from a part that references a family table (cast/machined). We then created the drawing from the cast instance. Someone then broke away the cast instance to a single part and modified it. The old drawing references the old cast part but I want to update the old drawing (that references old model, that references the instance) with the new model (that does not have an any family table reference) so that I don't have to recreate the drawing. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,
BJP

RE: Family tables/part and drawing update

copy the new model to diferent dir.
rename new model to old model name, then created family table
with instance model same nane with new model, then bring in dwg, open the dwg, then deleted family table, save model and dwg,
closed pro_e, restart pro_e, rename old model to new model.
note: work out side intralink

hope this help.

RE: Family tables/part and drawing update

You can replace at anytime a drawing's instance model, or generic, with another one and still keep the drawing. You don't have to recreate the drawing.
If you can't figure it out let me know and I'll give you more info.

RE: Family tables/part and drawing update

Go with vnpro's instructions... this is exactly what I have done in the past and it works without any hangups.

-Definitely work outside Intralink... You can do the same within Intralink, but one problem exists with Intralink in that it recognizes that the previous part for the drawing was an instance and you will experience check-in and check-out problems that are non overrideable.

Good luck.
