Linear effects of stress relief on ASTM B135 tube

Linear effects of stress relief on ASTM B135 tube

Linear effects of stress relief on ASTM B135 tube

(OP)
I have an historical problem to solve and the sample in question has been destroyed therefore I have limited information.  I need to know what would be the typical difference in length of a non-stress relieved tube of half hard ASTM B135 of length 446mm, wall thickness 0.5mm and diameter 7.5mm. after:
1.  Stress relieving for 3 hrs at 200°c as an industrial process
2.  Stress relieving for say 20 hrs at 100°c. in application conditions.

All measurements would be made at an ambient of 20°c.

RE: Linear effects of stress relief on ASTM B135 tube

I would say that there is no such thing as a typical difference in length etc. It would depend on the state of residual stresses that was present in the tube before
stress relieving. Moreover
ASTM B 135 -
STANDARD SPECIFICATION FOR SEAMLESS BRASS TUBE
covers ten different alloys which have certainly different properties and behavior.
