I am looking into purchasing modal analysis software for use with industrial vibration monitoring. Anybody have suggestions, opinions, links etc.  Thanks

RE: Modal Analysis Software

I recommend you take a look at Vibrant Technologies ME Scope product offering for Operational Deflection Shape and Modal analysis. It has been the leader in the USA for many years - not affiliated with them, but they have a good reputation:

I use LMS CADA-X. It is expensive, but that is because it is the most versatile and the most comprehensive. However it may be overkill for your application. Here is a website

If Star Modal is still available it may be worth a look as an intermediate level product.

Oh, nothing recent, I lost contact with it many years ago, when it was a nice change to the industrial strength solutions we were using.

We use LMS-Sysnoise as a tool for Noise prediction. U can check it out at LMS website.

MTS is my preference from hammer testing through single-point and multi-point random to normal mode tuning.  If you need large channel counts, <1000, look no further.

They also have a correlation product for test v. test, test v. analysis and analysis v. analysis correlation.

Try m+p international www.mpina.com or www.mpiuk.co.uk they have a very good package which is part of their SmartOffice software, the Modal package is availalble on its own.

RE: Modal Analysis Software

Flacrkr,
We have had LMS Cada-X for five years and it has been nothing but trouble. The US tech support is the worst that I have encountered. MikeyP has helped me out in the past an his recommendations are very good but I would not recommend Cada-X to anyone.

RE: Modal Analysis Software

We have used LMS Cada X for the last 11 years and the support (admittedly mostly by phone or email) has been excellent. Expensive, but excellent.

I wouldn't particuarly recommend it for the original poster's job, but for automotive NVH it has allowed us to things that were just pipe-dreams before.
