Pure Shear Test

Pure Shear Test

Pure Shear Test

(OP)
Hello Everybody,

Do you know how to make out the specific test bench for the pure shear in rubber testing ?

Thaks for your help.

RE: Pure Shear Test

If one goes back to the mechanics, lap shear test is the "pure shear" test cited.

But is is not easy to make a good specemens.

I believe ASTM books talked about adhesive lap shear test.

RE: Pure Shear Test

Really "pure" shear tests are hard to arrange with rubber, but there is an ISO standard for a quadruple lap shear specimen you might  consider.  There was also a paper given on dynamic testing of rubber a few years ago that covered several kinds of specimens and test methods.  You may find it by having the U of Akron library do a literature search; the author is still around and might be helpful as well.
