I-deas to .STL and SLDPRT problems with Solidworks

I-deas to .STL and SLDPRT problems with Solidworks

I-deas to .STL and SLDPRT problems with Solidworks

(OP)

We have a file that has been exported from I-deas to IGES, STL, and SLDPRT, but we cannot open the file using Solidworks 2000.

I thought STL would open up with Solidworks without a problem.

I have Emailed to the engineer who made our file with I-deas, but he hasn't had problems before.  He has tried saving the files in several different ways, but we are unable to work with the files exported from I-deas.

If someone would be so kind as to offer some advice to us, I would be very grateful,  If there is someone out there who uses both programs, maybe I could send a copy of the file to you and you could see if you could send back a file that could be opened in Solidworks.

We need a solution before November 12, 2003

RE: I-deas to .STL and SLDPRT problems with Solidworks

You can ask for I-DEAS output as a .idi(SDRC Web Access) file. Then you can use a product like Samsung WiseVIEW to take idi to iges or STL. There is no issue with Solidworks.

There is a free 14 day version at www.wiseview-us.com.

Good Luck
