hi guys

im looking for anything and everything on harmonics, but first off a couple of good updated books, or articals, any ideas

RE: harmonics

the best place to start is IEEE STD 519-1992 "Recommended practices and Requirements for Harmonic control in electrical power systems"

RE: harmonics

Accepting the fact that such material can be woefully incomplete, have you tried a google search?  The mountains of manufacturer literature and some indexed academic coursework there may serve as an introduction.

Having thorough familiarity with Ohm's law helps.

RE: harmonics

wez,

when you are following busbars approach you should be very careful regarding manufacturerer literature because it's very often biased by marketing.

You need a sound knowledge of electrical engineering to seperate the good information from the useless which is  written to convince you that only their product or service can solve your harmonic problems.

RE: harmonics

I can only suggest the standard that would be used to meet your requirements. Not knowing your product, I reccomend IEC 61000-3-2, Limits for Harmonic current emissions. Just make sure your product falls into the scope of the standard before you ry to buy it. There are limitation for current draw and another similar standard could be applicble.

Good luck

RE: harmonics

wez,

The following books are covering the subject:

Power System Harmonics (Jos Arrilaga; Wiley 1985 ; ISBN 0 471 90640 9)
Power System Harmonics Analyses (Jos Arrilaga; Wiley 1997; ISBN 0 471 97548 6)
Power System Harmonics (George Wakileh; Springer-Verlag 2001; ISBN 3-540-42238-2)

Good luck

RE: harmonics
