Americanising German Drawings
Americanising German Drawings
(OP)
Hello,
I am a design engineer in Southern Germany. I`ve designed a solenoid and created drawings of the parts according to German drawing standards (DIN and DIN-EN).
The solenoid is to be manufactured and assembled in America. Now I need to "translate" my drawings using the correct US standards. These part drawings will be sent to suppliers in the States for an initial quote.
Question #1 - For general tolerances in stamped sheet metal parts, which American standard do I refer to?
Thanks,
Matthew

Be sure the drawings are in 3rd angle projections instead of 1st angle as they are drawn in Germany (else where also).
Did drawing conversions a short while back and that was the biggest block in most cases. Mat'l conversions would fall out (in most cases) to what is available in the US. Tolerances should be as loose as possible but could be the same converted from metric.
Hope this helps
Ansi 14.5 standard is the drawing standard most often used in the US.
