American Standard Boiler ?

American Standard Boiler ?

American Standard Boiler ?

(OP)
I just purchased a home that has radiant heat. The boiler that supplies it is a American Standard boiler Model GPMX-5R. This is the situation, the circulating pump operates off of the thermostat. This to me is inefficient, (correct me if I'm wrong) I would rather have the circ pump running for a time after the boiler has stopped firing for about five to ten minuets. Is there a switch out there that I could connect to the circ pump to allow it to run after the boiler is done firing? Any suggestions?

RE: American Standard Boiler ?

Hello,

I would add a time delay relay, Square D sells a number of different types and some have a pot to adjust the amount of time on delay.

RE: American Standard Boiler ?

There s/b a hot water temp. switch on the boiler that you can lower in setting.  When water temp. in boiler goes below switch setting then firing starts.  I dont beleive that your thermostat is directly connected to the burner however it would be connected to your circulating pump which should be energyzed independently from the burner.
