Hi,
My company have recently installed some fischer emerson valves that use hart protocol for control. We have recenlty had problems with one of these valves and wanted to test/calibrate the valve in the workshop but couldnt get it to work with a 4-20mA signal. My question is are there any special signal generators for driving these or any othe hart devices???

RE: fischer emerson dc6000 valve

Is this a foundation fieldbus or 4-20 mA HART transducer?  If 4-20 mA, verify that the technicians source the voltage with the calibrator.  Also, look at the termination details inside the transducer.  There may be four terminals to select for the correct two terminals.  I know that this is cheating, but if all else fails, read the transducer instruction manual.

Suggestion: Cards have to have provisions for HART.
