exporting DWG/DXF formats from Microstation for 3Dmax import

exporting DWG/DXF formats from Microstation for 3Dmax import

exporting DWG/DXF formats from Microstation for 3Dmax import

(OP)
I created a shape in Microstation (7) and trying to export it through DXF and DWG format to 3D Max.
Original Microstation file is 722 Kb. Exported DWG is 42 Kb, and DXF 72 Kb. Importing DWG in MAX results in blank screen - DWG results only in a group of lines.
Is there a menu for more settings than the one you get after pressing the export button?

RE: exporting DWG/DXF formats from Microstation for 3Dmax import

I know this is an old thread but here it goes anyway.

I recall reading somewhere that arcs and circles in MicorStation won't translate well to AutoCAD. So I would guess that your shape has some form of curve or spline and that's what missing? I'm guessing?

Otherwise, I wouldn't see why 3D MAX would accept the DXF or DWG file.

Hope this helps someone out there.
