Electro-Static,-Magnetic,-Mechanical punch press?
Electro-Static,-Magnetic,-Mechanical punch press?
(OP)
Greetings,
The boss is quoting a job and the request is to price out a standard punch (1.2mm hole pierce) press and the "Lordes (lores?) electrostatic press" . Now I've been structural, mechanical, industrial, and plant engineering but I can't fine a electrostatic press unless he wants to push the punch with paint! Or maybe hooked to a electromagnetic doorbell with punch. Any ideals on name or concept people?
Thanks,

RE: Electro-Static,-Magnetic,-Mechanical punch press?
Is the 1.2 mm dia or thickness and what is the material?
RE: Electro-Static,-Magnetic,-Mechanical punch press?
That I do remember and the part about ele-STATIC got me thinking he misspelled his word, but what other type of fast jab and pull systems are out there for semi-thin steel. Tried searching but not much showed up.
*) Fast solenoid with punch? fast in out with power for 1/16 thick crsheet?
*) Fast laser, sell to gov. but still not that fast for mfg.
*) Spring is slow, hammer-slow, etc.
This is what I'am "just wandering" thanks, rentapen

Bump forming adds magnetic impules to a die in forming press enabling much deeper drawing. There is considerable information on the net. The original work was done at Ohio State.

After searching on "Bump forming", interesting and useful, I searched on electromagnetic press and found my query. I now seem to remember years ago about a solenoid type press and low and behold this is it. Its based under "Winset Tech" which markets the "Lourdes electromagnetic press" where you put a super electro deal over the press and shoot down the punch holder thru <.050 material which means no burr and smooth shear lines. Thanks for lead.
