Chemical Injection.
Chemical Injection.
(OP)
I need everyone's opinion on the effectiveness and long term duration of Chemical Injection to stabilize Eagle Ford Shale type soil with PVR of 7-10 inches and PI 52-60. Construction area is near the Dallas area. It is for residential purposes. Has anyone heard of ECSS 3000 (IS 2500)? How effective is potassium injection?

RE: Chemical Injection.
I have lots of experience with chemical injection - if it is done properly, with the right chemicals, concentration, etc. - it works miracles. The high pH solution of sodium hydroxide, potassium chloride/potassium hydroxide, ammonium lignosulfonate, and water is quite permanent - provided you don't dump acid on the site shortly after treatment.
Now for the bad news. It's a business with quite a few charlatans and "snake oil" salesmen. Proceed with extreme caution. DO NOT use the low pH products - they don't have much, if any, track record. And don't use any proprietary mixes - that's a formula for disaster. Have them spell out exactly what is in their mix, and what the concentration and application rate will be. If they won't tell, don't buy. They're hiding something -
