o-ring fatigue

o-ring fatigue

o-ring fatigue

(OP)
I have a situation in which an o-ring is subjected to pressure variations.  In time, the o-ring can fail which results in a leak.  A previous thread on this website discussed some of the problems with applying S/N techniques to rubber.  My question is are there some references available that explain how to characterize elastomer type components under cyclic loading?

Any help is appreciated.

RE: o-ring fatigue

. . . a good reference may be the book:

How to design with rubber, Carl Hanser publisher

This book gives an excellent overview on fatigue of rubber components etc.

RE: o-ring fatigue

. . . see also my suggestions under the THREAD:

"S/N curve for Natural Rubber" !!!
