Transformers 6 Harmonics

Transformers 6 Harmonics

Transformers 6 Harmonics

(OP)
Does any one heard about using double screen in transformers, one in the primary side and one in the secondary, to avoid drive harmonics?

Thanks.

RE: Transformers 6 Harmonics

Give more info please
Discribe the problem with harmonic data, voltages and system size

RE: Transformers 6 Harmonics

A screen in the transformer might be helpful to avoid radio frequency interference or to protect poorly designed equipment from overvoltages but the most severe problems in the low frequency range will not be solved by such a design.

RE: Transformers 6 Harmonics

I don’t think ANSI standards address shielding as a means of harmonic reduction.  Ref: ANSI/IEEE C57.110-1986  Establishing Transformer Capability When Supplying Nonsinusoidal Load Currents

Thanks, for your responses

Transformers are distribution transformers, dry type, delta-delta, 2500KVA, 6600/440V.

It's just a requirement in an offer so there aren`t any details about the harmonics problem.

As "busbar", I think drive harmonics can not be affected by any kind of screen...

RE: Transformers 6 Harmonics

I too agree with Busbar. The harmonics are generated by the drive and one thing to be taken care is that the transformer desgn takes into account the additional heating due to these harmonics. Usually the trick is to increase the transformer rating by a factor so that the effect of harmonics is taken care of.
