can any one tell me if it is possible to supply a pro/desktop object that can be read into pro/eng 2001 in a native format..
i have been told that .des, .pdt ar enot openable in pro-engineer 2001? is this the case?  pro-desktop has been "sold" as a interchange program to help people working in other design aeas such as myself to supply ot or use pro/engineer supplied files form people using pro/engineer..

i normally work with 3d animation programs such as lightwave and softimage/alias.

Yes,

However I don't think it's under the file menu. If you make a new Part you can create a feature using the DESKTOP In option found on the create feature menu. This will bring in the Sketches as Datum Curves and the Desktop Solids.
