Of all printing technologies that exist, which would be best for printing monotone color watermark effect on back side of a photograph, that is permanent, fast drying  and available in metallic gold.  The result expected would be a transluscent/draft quality/watermark effect.  I am looking into the following Thermal Transfer, Laser, Inkjet, and Roller type technologies.  Can anyone help me with some insight on which technology would be best and where I can look for specification regarding printers and printheads.

Thank you in advance. I'm all ears on this one.

RE: Printing Technologies: Thermal Transfer, Laser, InkJet, etc.

I see no replies.  I dont think we have experts on this issue here.

Try all the printer makers websites (Canon Epson Seikosha HP etc) and maybe find a forum in the print graphics industry.

thanks for the reply RiReneke.  I really did pick the wrong thread.

RE: Printing Technologies: Thermal Transfer, Laser, InkJet, etc.

The only printers I know of that will do this are made by ALPS and OKI of which the latter is still available in Europe but not for long. The OKI DP-5000 prints gold, silver, white on A4. The DP-7000 does the same on A3. For more information go to the Yahoo groups site and make yourself a member of the ALPS list.

Hope this helps.

David Schiebaan
