See if you can get in touch with Tom Bowling at Team Industrial Services.  He was the leader in development of an ASME standard on freeze plugs, which is complete but has not yet been published.  The prior post has the Team website info.

Pipeline freezing technology: The freeze stop is an economical and nonintrusive method used to isolate piping systems.
Anybody knows which conditions have to be met in case of low carbon steel (bcc structure)?
