Dear Sir, I want to analyse Steel plates with stiffeners. The plates are loaded with uniform pressure on its surface and I want to find out the maximum bending stress and maximum deflection in the plates. Can you please suggest me some good books to analyse the stiffened steel plates with various boundary conditions (i.e. simply supported or fixed etc)? N.V.M.Rao

RE: Structural

Formulas for Stress and Strain, by Roark & Young.

RE: Structural

your stiffened panel-stringer assembly can be study as a beam column.
you have this type of analysis in Niu.
for you it is a beam column with a uniforn loading with various limit conditions.
if you need more information i will be pleased to help you

RE: Structural

Formulae for Stress and strain by Roark is a very good reference book for the this problem. It gives formulae for considering various boundary conditions and load cases.

RE: Structural

A book that we used a great deal was:

Design of Weldments by Omer Blodgett
This is a very handy and outstanding book and doesn't cost much ($12.50). 500 hardcover pages of formulas and diagrams
