mathematical model for industrial scale downdraft gasifier

mathematical model for industrial scale downdraft gasifier

(OP)
Hi,
I am looking for a mathematical model which analyses a downdraft gasifier that I can use to model our industrial scale gasifier unit. I am specifically looking for a model which considers particle movement and gas flow down the gasifier (along the gasifier axis). Biomass (wood) would be the fuel source. The heat-transfer and mass conversion (during pyrolysis) should also be considered.

If you know of a suitable source from which I can obtain this information, I would be very grateful for your help.

Revata,

Are you still in need of this information ??

I can find the worksheets, & simulation program I used.

Reply to this thread if you still need it.

I've set "e-mail notification" for the thread, I don't want to go through all of it, IF you no longer need it..... :)

Hi !

In regards to the post in "Eng-Tips.com"

Thread124-76082

Enclosed below is the page that I got the modeling software from.

Please, if you use this model, follow the guidelines.

http://bgg.mek.dtu.dk/research/modelling/systems/

The version I downloaded, sometimes, when you open it, will give an error on the first time you use the "recalculate" button (don't know if this is a software bug, or my computer) if this does happen to you, I found that even if you close and re-open the program, it will always give that error UNLESS you do a reboot, then try again (personally, I think it's my computer, simply because it's a clunker :)

As far as my worksheets, I don't know if they would apply, as what I'm doing is a "District Heating" type system,  approx. 30kg/h of bio-mass (quite a small system, compared to what you want, and therefore the surface area of the unit would throw your calculations off).

Let Me know.

Regards, and Happy Holidays

Greg
