Extruding Profiles

Extruding Profiles

(OP)
Is it possible to extrude a profile (circle, etc.) along a 3D spline?  This would be very useful for wire routing, but I have been unsuccessful in trying to do it.  Any help would be appreciated.

RE: Extruding Profiles

not in autocad 2000 but in some of the verticals like LDD2 and up and Mechanical desktop you can but i think its particular routines that do it

if everyone helps everybody the world will be a better place

RE: Extruding Profiles

Solid Modelling in ACAD2K:

The only way I see to do this is create extrusions with 2D polylines or Splines.  Both perpendicular to shape to be extruded along a Path.

Create 2D curves for elbows ( 90 deg or 45 deg) and link at junctions ( ctr to ctr) where path of wiring is to go in "Z" area.  Save as blocks to be recalled later, explode block before next step.

Finally Union all links together.
