Nitrogen Purging in Pipeline

Nitrogen Purging in Pipeline

Nitrogen Purging in Pipeline

(OP)
Hi all..

Can someone give me some calculation methodology for calculating the speed and the slug length required for N2 purge in Pipeline to avoid any flammable NAtural gas (behind the N2) dispersion into the air zone ahead of the N2.

Thanks...

RE: Nitrogen Purging in Pipeline

Can you use a pig to separate the N2 from the NG?

RE: Nitrogen Purging in Pipeline

Dear TD2K,

Could you please abbreviate pig stands for what?
What it is,any relevent reference.

Thanks.

RE: Nitrogen Purging in Pipeline

PIG stands for Pipeline Internal Gauge. Pig is used in the pipeline for Pre-commissioning, Commissioning, during normal operation and Health of the pipeline is also monitored by intelligent pigging.
