IDEAS TO ANSYS

IDEAS TO ANSYS

IDEAS TO ANSYS

(OP)
PLEASE LET ME KNOW HOW TO CONVERT A FILE FROM IDEAS TO ANSYS.I TRIED DOING TO IGES BUT, IT IS NOT BEING DONE SAYING THAT THE PROCESS "TIMED OUT"

RE: IDEAS TO ANSYS

First of all, please STOP SHOUTING.

Now, can you get a bit more specific as to what you're doing

Have you tried transferring a rectangular block with a hole in it (the old standby) to see if maybe your system is the problem rather than the model?

If the block works, is your original model 'clean'?

If so, have you tried de-featuring the model somewhat before sending?

Does this yield different results (or some different error message)?

Regards,
Ed

RE: IDEAS TO ANSYS

That is simple.
Use this MAGIC command:
/xto co bo fc ex
and follow the required menus and data.

If you try to simply export it from FILE>EXPORT>IGES, you will probably have problems. However, if your geometry is too complicated, there is no garantee that this cammand work, neither for ANSYS nor for any other software.

RE: IDEAS TO ANSYS

The following are the only two solutions I know.

A)The first which is currently in practise:
Prerequisite: I-DEAS 9 minimum (I think)
Purchase Parasolid Translator Add-on for ANSYS
How:
In I-DEAS 9, under the file tab, there is an "Interoperate" function. This functions will translate Assemblies or Parts in the Library into ".xpk" files, or only Parts into parasolid ".x_t" files.

ANSYS only imports ".x_t" files, but with the parasolid translator add-on.

Feedback:
Generally, models which do not have complex surfaces will work fine. At least in my opinion has better curves and surfaces than IGES.

Imported models are in meters. So scaling is needed for those using millimeters as units.

B)I think this is possible:
Prerequisite: UG or NX upgrade (I think)
Purchase UG Translator Add-on for ANSYS
How:
Well, move into the NX platform or the UG NX and UG model files will be the key models which I think is ".prt".

Feedback:
Never used, just a suggestion for evaluation or trial from the software sales support.

RE: IDEAS TO ANSYS

Go for file->export option and select export to ansys.
For exporting to ansys you should have a FEM of the model.
This data file will be solved using Ansys as solver.
You won't be able to put any constraints or loads in Ansys.
