Welder Qualification

Is a 6G qualified welder qualified to weld a jacket leg can to a plate girder or does he have to qualify to 6GR.

RE: Welder Qualification

If this is a T, K, Y connection (which it probably is) then yes, it would need to be qualified with a restriction ring.

RE: Welder Qualification

It is a T connection however the angle bevel does not change as in pipe-pipe connection and I cannot find conclusive definition in AWS D1.1 for T K Y for plate-pipe connection, it only mentions  plate-plate or pipe-pipe, thus my original question. Any ideas?
Thanx for the feedback anyway.
