Air separation Unit

Air separation Unit

(OP)
Hi All,

I am working with design of syngas plants and want to know more about air separation units (ASU).

Where can i find info on different vendors and types of air sepation plants. What are the costs of ASU, is the cost proportional to size or other factors influencing.

I have asked to many questions, but there are many questions. I hope that there is someone who has got exprience with ASU who can be of help.

*Beware of chemicals*

RE: Air separation Unit

2 basic types , with many smaller subcategories.

Older cryogenic process ( Linde) , suitable for base loaded, high capacity , ultra pure O2 and N2 and Ar product . High capital cost, high lead time, high specific power consumption.

Newer PSA pressure swing absorption suitable for cyclic operation, lower capital cost, lower power consumption, shorter lead time, poorer purity of product  gas, suitable for some applications .

Refer to annual indices of articles in the magazine "Chemical Engineering"  for estimates of cost.

Pressure swing absorbtion is used for perifying process gas in fx hydrogen plants (purifying of H2 plants). How, can it then be used for O2 purification.?

RE: Air separation Unit

sarmadshakir:
see <www.generon.com/oxygen/default.htm>; of PSA and VPSA production of 90-99% O2.

newer methods are also available using ceramic membranes for silicon wafer production processes to 99.9% O2
