Pipeline Station Welding

(OP)
For my current onshore pipeline project, our Consultant allowed us to carry out welding activities for the station / block valves station using either API 1104 or ASME IX code.

My question, it is possible for me to request the Consultant to use WPS based on ASME IX and the interpretation according to API 1104.
The reasons are:-
1. ASME IX will required less WPS compare to API 1104.
2. API 1104 not too stringent in the intpretation of RT films if compared with ASME IX.

SO, how about the consultant will comment?
It's any other good reasons to do that?
