SPILL OIL RECOVERY

SPILL OIL RECOVERY

(OP)
I just graduate as Mechanical Engineer, at the moment I working in an oil company. We have problems to recovery spill oil on land. We need to treat this dead oil before put into the system but I don't know what I have to do. I was looking information about but I found only for offshore. If you know something about that please give an advise an as well useful website or books I would be grateful.
Thanks
Marlene

RE: SPILL OIL RECOVERY

If we have an oilspill on land the first thing to do is contain the spill area. In most cases we use an escavator to make some collection pits and ditches. After that we collect it with pumps and skimmers.

Request an catalog from Douglas engineering

http://www.douglaseng.com/

Their skimpak product line is indispensable for this kind of work

RE: SPILL OIL RECOVERY

Thanks for your response. Actually  with a bulldolzer we were collecting small oil spills into large oil  pools and then with vacuum track we were sucking this oil out and taking to a settling tank. Then this oil is pumped into de system.
The problem was that when we injet this oil in to the system, in the tank farm a heavy emulsion was formed and had problem separating oil and water. So we stoped it.
I would like to know what special treatment should ne recieve it before. Heat, chemical...Thanks
Marlene

RE: SPILL OIL RECOVERY

You will need a treatment tank or box if you use a vacuum truck because also sludge , mud and grass will go into the system, depending on the amount of oil, you can use with several compartments, and combine it with a skimpak.
Send me your e-mail adress than I can send some more information.
