"Foul Air" Aeration System

"Foul Air" Aeration System

(OP)
Can anyone help me find information on designing an odor control system that uses activated sludge to treat "foul air".  From what I can gather, it seems a cover is placed over a tank (e.g. gravity thickener for sludge) to contain the odors and then that "foul air" is sent to the blowers and delivered to the activated sludge.

Must the "foul air" be treated in some way to remove moisture prior to entering the blowers?

What are the actual (biological, physiochemical?) mechanisms that remove remove or abate the odors?

Thanks!
