hi motorheads,
i am looking for a circuit to build a torque motor tester. i need to provide output to drive +/- 100ma. the torque motor is in a electrohydraulic valve type moog77xx series anybody got any experience of this type of test?

We use a normal mA source to drive the Moog servo valves on our gas and steam turbines. It doesn't give anywhere near the full slew rate, but it is more than adequate for manual testing. The restricted slew rate is probably better if you are manually controlling the servo open loop - less chance of damaging something.

Star Hydraulics in the UK make a little handheld unit which is basically a bipolar current source with adjustable output which we occasionally use. Looking at their web site, they have quite a range of test equipment. Link below:

Essentially, the force at a radius r needs to be sensed and converted into a signal that will be connected to a suitable meter/recorder.
