SWX 2004 Custom Material Database

SWX 2004 Custom Material Database

SWX 2004 Custom Material Database

(OP)
Has anyone attempted to create their own custom material database in SWX 2004.  I thought I noticed a character limit for the material name.  Does anyone else run into this limitation?  If this is the case, it could be a killer for us because of the need for precise material callouts/descriptions.  For instance, there is a great deal of difference between just calling out '17-4 Stainless Steel', and calling out 'STEEL STAINLESS ROUND BAR, 17-4 PH COND. H 1150 TYPE 630'.  The second callout does not fit in the field provided.

The pessimist says the glass is half empty.  The optimist says the glass is half full.  The engineer says the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

RE: SWX 2004 Custom Material Database

You could shrink your description quite easily. eg SS RB 17-4 PH H1150 T630.

The pessimist says the character limit is too short. The optimist says the material name is too long. The engineer say the material name is twice as long as it needs to be.

When you use notepad or word you can change the length.
Save the file as unicode in word. He will ask for it.
