Programming in Drawings

(OP)
I am having some problems with programming drawings.  First show stopper is when I open the drawing, the part reference programming changed from when I last saved...example...went from "feat_suppressed (5075879h.prt, 28299)" to "feat_suppressed (*** ,28299)".  The references of dimensions also gets lost...has anyone else seen this problem before?  Also, is there any information or training classes availiable to help with programming within a drawing?  It is very different than programming within an assembly, and we are thinking about implementing DDL, which will require drawing programming for its automatic drawing regeneration.

Any help is greatly appreciated

Thanks a bunch!
