O2 sensor wiring

O2 sensor wiring

O2 sensor wiring

(OP)
Hello,
This is my first post but I am sure I'll visiting quite a bit.
I need help with an AC DELCO AFS-65 Wiring assignments. I had never encountered such people where they flat out refuse to give the information as if it is a big big secret.
Anyway, it seems like This sensor is equivalent (replacement) to GM 25161151 used on 94-95 Corvettes and 25133504 and 25165313 which are used from 93 to 96 Centrury Skylark, LeSabre, Park Ave, Rivera, Regal and Road master.

I am hoping somebody can help me identiying which wire is for what (may be from a wiring diagram for the above cars or something).

If not, is there a way to identify these wires through testing?

This Oxygen sensor has the following wire colors (in connector sequence):
Bage - Thick wire and is Attached to the body
Purble - Thick Wire goes inside the sensor
Black - Thinner wire goes inside the sensor
Orange - Thinner wire goes inside the sensor

Thank You
Mike

RE: O2 sensor wiring

Mike, I dont have access to a Factory Service Manual for the Vette, but it would have the color/wire sequence there. Your Info on the Roadmaster at least is wrong, in 93 they took the AFS20, then 94-96 they took AFS75's
Basically, you have a 4 wire heated sensor though, best guess at present would be purple/sensor Orange/heater power Blacks/ground.

Do a Google search on 4 wire heated O2 sensors or AFS65 Oxygen sensor. If anyone has ever put it on the Internet, you should be able to find it.

RE: O2 sensor wiring

On my 96 Impala SS the colors are tan, signal low. Purple, O2 signal. Pink, 12V supply for heating element from underhood electrical center. Black, ground for heater circuit.  Your's is most likely like Patdaly already suggests.

To understand what you are going to measure read, for instance, these articles: http://www.asashop.org/autoinc/july97/techtotech.htm
and http://www.asashop.org/autoinc/april2000/techtips.htm

If you have a scope you can probably learn a lot from Jaff Bach's articles in Autoinc., one such an article would be http://www.asashop.org/autoinc/jan2001/techtotech.cfm

Backprobe the purple wire with a DMM or scope.

Good luck

Thanks Guys,
I think I may have enough to proceed with the installations but I'll do some testing after I read the articles.
Thanks Again
Mike
