Valve Sound Power Spectrum
Valve Sound Power Spectrum
(OP)
To estimate acoustic vibration of pipework downstream of PSV's, it has been advised that knowledge of the sound power spectrum is required - the frequency range of acoustic energy distributed into pipework downstream of the valve resulting from turbulence injected by the valve. I have requested that the valve suppliers provide this information - however they seem unfamiliar with the concept, and the implications. Can anyone advise how the sound power spectrum for a valve be assessed/derived/calculated?

RE: Valve Sound Power Spectrum
The valve in question is not in fact a control valve but a SRV on a Hydrocarbon Gas/Condensate Separator. Valve Manufacturer is unable to revert with details of sound power spectrum for SRV - is there anyway to verify - either directly or generically that doesn't involve physical testing/measurement?
