AutoCad dwg import

AutoCad dwg import

I recieved an AutoCad .dwg drawing from my boss to print. When I open it in SW2003, it comes in and seems OK, but when I try to print/plot just a blank sheet comes out. I tried several ways to open/print/plot etc. Any suggestions?
thanks

RE: AutoCad dwg import

Make sure that when you print you check the page setup options.  Make sure that print that scale sheet to fit paper is checked.  See if that helps.

I tried that also. Even the preview shows nothing.

RE: AutoCad dwg import

Is the drawing in the print area?

It looks like it...how can you check to be sure if it is?

RE: AutoCad dwg import

When you have a SW drawing open it represents the paper size by a grey line around the drawing.  This appears if you have a title block present or not.  If your imported AutoCAD drawing isn't in that space it won't print.  Is the scale really small or large?  Is it was so small you might not even see it when you print.  If it was really huge you might just be printing empty space inside lines.

Feel free to email me the drawing if you want me to take a look at it.

RE: AutoCad dwg import

When you import a 2D AutoCAD dwg to SW drawing, you have the option to center the page on the SW print area.  Watch the options as you are opening the AutoCAD file.

Be sure to open the drawing via the menu and not via drag-and-drop to get all the option menus.

RE: AutoCad dwg import

If you have the scale or units incorrect, you could either be looking at your drawing from iles away, or even zoomed in to be looking inside the smallest hole.

Thanks for advice. Figured out the scale cam in as some weird scale....something like 2010/1. Strange!
So I scaled the drawing 1/2000 or until it fit into the drawing. All they wanted was a plot, didn't need to be to scale. This is why I went away from ACAD!
