Performance of processors on cad.

(OP)
Hi,

I know that this question might not be on this forum, but I couldn't find a better one.

Does anybody know what difference does it make (on performance & speed) using different computer processors (intel, amd, ...) for cad?

Thank you,

Robert.

RE: Performance of processors on cad.

Both intel and amd work equally well for the same specs.  But you must also check cpu cache sizes, memory size, memory speed, bus speed, graphics memory and processor, disk drive access speed etc.

RE: Performance of processors on cad.

When I first bought ACAD 2000 the tech support people told me to use Intel pentiums only.  They said AMD sometimes caused problems.  That was several years ago so maybe it has changed.  The specs may be the same but the chips are not identical.

RE: Performance of processors on cad.

I use Autocad R2004 on twin Xenon processors with no trouble, WinXP Pro also.
