Harmonic Calculation

Harmonic Calculation

Harmonic Calculation

(OP)
i have been asked to carry out a THD calculation upon a 450 kVA 3 phase input rectifier load.i would be grateful if any one can point me in the direction of obtaining the relevant info. to carry out the necessary calculations.

i am aware that i would need to carry out a background harmonic study. However, the issue is primiraly, to ascertain the input or dynmaic impact from this equipment.

i would stress that at this stage the information presented is only to enable me to gauge , what measure are needed if any.

presumely i need to start off with obtaining the typical spectrum of such equipment.Additionly whether 12 pulse or 24 pulse diodes are to be used?

i look forward to any assistance that you guys can provide.

Regards

Maunsell

RE: Harmonic Calculation

Start with IEEE Std 519-1992, IEEE Recommended Practices and Requirements for Harmonic Control in Electrical Power Systems, available at http://shop.ieee.org/store/

RE: Harmonic Calculation

You can also use a software analysis tool like ETAP to perform harmonic analysis. It can also run a custom frequency scan.
